ARK Literacy Program

Since there are so many kids falling behind their classmates in their reading, writing and mathematics skills, the ARK Literacy Program offers one on one after school tutoring to help “At Risk Kids” to excel in these areas. Our belief is if a child can read, they can succeed! Improving their educational skills will help build their confidence and self esteem. We know this will make all the difference in the world by changing and elevating their course of education.

Our free after school tutoring is every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Literacy Statistics

• Since 1983, more than 10 million Americans graduated without having learned to read at a basic level.

• 60% of America’s prison inmates are illiterate and 85% of all juvenile offenders have reading problems.

• Federal and state statistics say that 59% of the federal prison inmates are illiterate.

• It is estimated that more than 2 billion dollars is spent each year on students who repeat a grade because they have reading problems.

• The careers of more than 25% of American children are impaired because they don’t read well enough, quickly enough or easily enough.

OUR MISSION

To provide a safe environment for kids to learn, grow and develop. We believe that when kids can read, they succeed! We provide one-on-one mentoring and tutoring programs to develop core competency in reading, writing and math. When a child has these skills, they are more confident, have high self esteem and develop strong character. Literacy is a gift that keeps on giving throughout the life of a child.
